Higher than any other.

A few weeks ago I wrote a post in which I mentioned meeting an older lady who invited me to an Easter musical and how there’s a wall in between me and God. That day ends with me going to the musical, I Will Follow Christ, and sitting with the lady I met and really enjoying it.

Yesterday I was telling Rachel how great I thought the guy who played Jesus was – he was really charismatic, not in a creepy way, but in a way that made me want to run on stage and sit at his feet and listen. and he did a great job.

Caught up?

This morning I woke up at 6:45. Got ready for church. Got in my car, went to the gas station, and drove to church…. except not my church. Did you know I loved Bibleman? I did. I loved the first 4 videos with the singing and dancing, and Calli was my favorite. She was so cool. I was going to say “just trust me” and then I remembered that I could probably find it on YouTube.

Yes I know all of the words, and yes I know all of the little dance moves. I thought all of those kids were cool, but especially the girl in the red.

Awhile ago I got bored with the internet. So I started looking up the names of the kids from Bibleman. I found out that Calli from Bibleman went to a church in Pomona, close to where I live. I’d considered going to it {Pomona First Bapstist}… except shortly after I began attending the Pomona Salvation Army Corps.

So it was strange when, this morning at 10:20 I pulled into the parking lot of Pomona First Baptist church. They were in the middle of a church service and so I quickly decided to have some quiet time with God at the beach. I started driving westward, and at 11:10 found myself back at PFB, walking into the church.

Funny how God works.

That wall I had mentioned? I’d like to say that God smashed it down right in front of me and that everything is rainbows, sunshine and daisies. That would be a lie, though. I will say that I had a nice moment with Jesus during communion and the sermon seemed to be catered just for me.

Oh, and remember how Rachel and I talked about the guy who played Jesus in the musical I went to with the lady I met at Starbucks? He’s the worship leader at the church I went to.

Funny how God works.

It is good to know that God is near. It gives me strength and encouragement and peace in the midst of my weariness, confusion and lack of understanding.

My soul finds rest in God alone;
my salvation comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

-Psalm 62:1-2
